Why Google is forcing the switch now
Assistant was built to match a fixed set of spoken commands to a fixed set of actions. Gemini is a conversational model that can follow up on a request and handle open-ended questions Assistant was never built to parse. Google's bet is that most people adapt within a few uses. What to actually do about it
